PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin confirmed that he will start vaccinating cattle, goats, and buffalo specifically to prevent the transmission of foot and mouth disease (FMD).
"We will start vaccinating tomorrow," said Bey Machmudin when met after the Rapim at Gedung Sate, Monday (13/1/2025).
Bey said that so far there has been an increase in FMD cases in 14 districts and cities in West Java. He said the total number of livestock, especially cows, buffaloes, goats, and sheep exposed to FMD was 1,240.
"There is still an increase in the number of diseases, there are 1,240 in 14 districts/cities," said Bey.
However, his party will not carry out blockades to prevent transmission. Currently, only one animal market in Manonjaya, Tasikmalaya Regency is temporarily closed.
"There are no blockades, only the closure of Manonjaya Market," said Bey.
Regarding the FMD transmission case in West Bandung Regency, Bey said that four livestock died. Thus, the total number of livestock that died due to exposure to FMD was 53.
"What is clear is that yesterday four animals died in KBB, so the total number of deaths was 53 throughout West Java," said Bey.
