PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government continues to optimize child empowerment and protection programs to prevent vulnerabilities experienced by women, such as domestic violence, vagrants and street children, and commercial sex workers.
According to the Head of the West Java Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Family Planning Service (DP3AKB), Siska Gerfianti, West Java already has sufficient regulations to protect and empower women.
West Java has Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2023 concerning the Empowerment and Protection of Women. Then, Regional Regulation Number 3 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Child Protection, Fulfillment of Children's Rights through Child-Friendly Districts/Cities.
"With the duties and functions we have, we will strengthen several programs such as the Women's School and Warung Cetar," said Siska Gerfianti, in Bandung, Thursday ( 12/2/2025 ).
In addition to regulations and programs, West Java has also implemented standardization of child and women's protection institutions, as well as other child service institutions. This standardization is intended so that these institutions have measurable and effective intervention programs.
"We also strengthen family functions through our field staff, namely Motekar (Family Resilience Motivator)," said Siska. One of Motekar's focuses is preventing early marriage in children.
In protecting and empowering women, DP3AKB also involves the community. One of them is through the Jabar Cekas (Dare to Prevent Violence) program.
Jabar Cekas has five main principles of community involvement with the tagline , namely Five Dare, namely daring to prevent, daring to reject, daring to report, daring to advance, and daring to protect.
Siska mentioned data from the Central Statistics Agency that places West Java as the province with the most PSK locations. DP3AKB itself, she said, has received the BPS release. According to her, the data released is 2024 data taken from the book 'Statistics of Indonesian Village Potential 2024'.
"The data collection will be carried out in May 2024," said Siska.
He said, DP3AKB will coordinate with BPS. In addition to the location of PSK, there are other valuable data for DP3AKB, namely suicide practices, street children gathering locations, and the locations of vagrants and street children.
"This is a valuable source of information and data in policy making so that solution steps can be taken to overcome the problem," concluded Siska.
DP3AKB Jabar also provides a service number for public complaints or reports with a hotline number at SAPA 129 or Whatsapps 085222206777 which can also be accessed via the Jabar Super App Sapawarga.
