PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Regional Secretary of West Java Province Herman Suryatman received a visit from the Shizuoka Prefectural Government Delegation at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Friday (7/2/2025).

In the meeting, Herman revealed the follow-up of the Sister Province between the West Java Provincial Government and Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan in the field of employment.

"Sister Province between West Java and Shizuoka and of course we do not waste this relationship, which we hope will increase the impact of welfare in West Java. One of them is sending workers," said Herman.

Herman explained that there are already 87 workers from West Java residents working in Shizuoka Prefecture. The 87 workers were facilitated through the Sister Province between West Java and Shizuoka.

"There have been 87 workers to Shizuoka Prefecture facilitated by the Sister Province between the West Java Provincial Government and Shizuoka Prefecture and of course we hope that in 2025 we can increase it to at least 500-1,000 workers that we will consolidate," he said.

However, Herman realized that achieving the target of 500 workers to Shizuoka Prefecture from West Java requires improving language skills. Therefore, he will coordinate with universities to provide appropriate and measurable learning.

"We will work with universities to prepare prospective workers who will be flown to Shizuoka. (In 2025) There are 8,000 applicants from the workforce with a quota of 200. Of the (quota) 200, at most only 85 people have language quality (that meets) the standard," said Herman.

"We have to coordinate with the districts and cities to prepare Japanese-speaking teachers so that the youth of the districts/cities have language skills up to N3 qualification," he added.

The West Java Provincial Government and Shizuoka Prefecture have prepared educational scholarships for West Java residents.

"We also work together with the education sector to provide scholarships to study in Shizuoka Prefecture," he said.

In addition, the West Java Provincial Government together with Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, continues to sharpen mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of education.

On Friday (7/2/2025), the Superintendent of Education or Head of the Shizuoka Prefecture Education Office of Japan, Mr. Shigehiro Ikegami, visited SMA Negeri 8 Kota Bandung on Jalan Solontongan and Bandung Independent School on Jalan Soeria Soemantri.

During the second school visit, Shigehiro emphasized the Shizuoka government's commitment to continuing educational cooperation with the West Java Provincial Government.

"Among the forms of cooperation are student exchanges between Fuji no Kuni International High School Shizuoka and several high schools with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum," he said.

The IB curriculum is an international educational program designed to develop students' critical thinking skills, academic abilities, and social attitudes, designed for students aged 3 – 19 years.

According to Shigehiro, before the student exchange cooperation was officially launched, there were actually several students from Shizuoka studying at SMA Negeri 8 Bandung.

"We visited SMA 8, while also visiting our students who are studying at SMA 8. They really enjoy studying at SMA 8 and can quickly adapt to the environment," he said.

In addition to developments in the field of education, especially in the implementation of the developing curriculum, the Shizuoka education delegation also plans to visit cultural or educational sites in West Java.
