PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java will host the 2024 President's Cup tournament which will be opened by President Joko Widodo at the Jalak Harupat Stadium, Soreang, Bandung Regency, Friday (19/7/2024).

After the opening, Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin will accompany President Joko Widodo to watch the first match between Persib Bandung and PSM Makassar.

The 2024 President's Cup is the sixth implementation since it was first held in 2015. The President's Cup is a pre-event tournament for the 2024/2025 Liga 1 event.

The 2024 President's Cup will be attended by eight clubs participating in League 1. Persib Bandung made history by winning the first edition of the President's Cup. Meanwhile, Arema FC has recorded its name as the club that has won the President's Cup most often, namely three times.

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir confirmed that President Joko Widodo would be present to open the tournament.

"The opening will be in Bandung, West Java, on July 19 2024. God willing, the President will be present and hopefully this will also improve public interest who are currently waiting for improvements in the league," he said as reported by pssi.org.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the 2024 Presidential Cup Steering Committee, Maruarar Sirait, said that he had reported the roadmap for the 2024 Presidential Cup to President Joko Widodo.

Security coordination with all relevant stakeholders has been carried out. Specifically regarding the security of the TNI and Polri, Maruarar has met with TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
