PORTALJABAR, CIREBON CITY - The Jabar Ultra 2023 event with a route from Bandung City to Cirebon City has ended. The ultra marathon competition held by the West Java Provincial Government at the initiation of the Youth and Sports Service received various appreciation and positive impressions from participants who completed the race with a distance of 161 kilometers.

Fauzi Imdadur, who won first place in the men's individual at West Java Ultra 2023, said that the route chosen by the organizers was very varied so that it was not boring for the participants.

"The track is very interesting. First of all, we were pampered with the Rock Prince climb, then descended until it turned around in the Kertajati Airport area (Majalengka Regency)," said Fauzi after receiving the prize at the Bima Stadium, Cirebon City, Sunday ( 12/11/2023 ).

The starting point for West Java Ultra 2023 starts from the Gedung Sate yard, Bandung City, Friday ( 10/11/2023 ).
The race route crosses the arterial route of Sumedang Regency, Kertajati Kadipaten, Majalengka Regency, Cirebon Regency, and finishes at GOR Bima, Cirebon City.

"The weather in Kertajati is quite hot. It is a challenge for every runner how to maintain dehydration so as not to get dizzy. However, after Majalengka it rained quite heavily and it drained my emotions and was annoying because I had to change clothes and manage my nutrition again until I finally finished first," he said.

Fauzi assessed that the track was quite fun because each kilometer had its own challenges which challenged runners.

"There are obstacles, descents, heat and rain, entering the forest, urban areas, it is a challenge, but fun," said the runner from Yogyakarta.

According to Fauzi, security for the participants during the trip was relatively good and even the enthusiasm of the public who wanted to see the 2023 West Java Ultra runners also needed to be appreciated.

"Many people welcome the runners. Sometimes we are asked by people who are watching," he said.

The same thing was expressed by Indah Junita, the first individual women's champion in West Java Ultra 2023. According to Junita, the views along the route spoiled the runners' eyes.

"The nature that we traverse is really cool, especially entering kilometer 120. There are lots of mountains, like really beautiful layers," said Indah.

Indah admitted that the climbs and descents as well as the hot weather were challenges that runners had to face along the route.

"The route turns out to be very difficult. That's why you need to train diligently, as well as ultra-strategically and mentally," said Indah.

"The organization was really good. Hopefully Jabar Ultra will be around again in the years to come," he added.

Likewise, according to Arief Wismoyono and Taofik Hidayat, they were able to be the fastest in the men's Relay 2 (relay) category. Both of them considered that the 2023 West Java Ultra with its many climbs and descents and hot weather was very challenging for runners.

"The route has endless ups and downs. The cold weather at the start of the run and the heat before kilometer 80 was very challenging," admitted Taofik, who acted as the first runner.

Meanwhile, Arief revealed the challenges he faced as second runner, namely the hot weather, especially when entering the Kertajati area, Majalengka Regency.

"Facing hot weather requires strategy, adequate nutrition and good physical condition," explained Arief.
Both of them hope that the Jabar Ultra can be held in the coming years with even bigger prizes.

The winners of West Java Ultra 2023 each received prizes for first place IDR 15 million, second place IDR 10 million, and third place IDR 8 million.
