PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov), through the Food Security and Livestock Agency (DKPP), distributed 24 beef cattle to three livestock groups in Pangandaran, Sumedang, and Ciamis regencies. The assistance was provided to support food security and agribusiness in the agricultural sector while also preserving and utilizing local livestock genetic resources.

The handover of the beef cattle seeds was overseen by the Head of the West Java Province DKPP, Linda Al Amin, and the Head of the Ciamis Beef Cattle Breeding and Artificial Insemination Development Center, Dr. Vidi Wulandari. The handover was also attended by regional leaders, namely the Regents of Pangandaran, Sumedang, and Ciamis.

The three selected beneficiary groups were the Tirta Mulya Livestock Group in Pangandaran, Mekar Mandiri in Sumedang, and Karya Mekar I in Ciamis. Each group received eight superior cattle: seven heifers and one bull.

The seed distribution targeted three different locations in West Java. The distribution to the Tirta Mulya Group took place in Padaherang District, Pangandaran Regency, on Wednesday (August 12, 2026).

The handover for the Mekar Mandiri Group took place in Lebaksiuh Village, Sumedang Regency, Thursday (13/8/2026).

Furthermore, the handover for Mekar I Work Group was located at the UPTD BPPIBTSP Ciamis, Ciamis Regency, Friday (14/8/2026).

Linda said that this strategic activity is a concrete manifestation of the implementation of West Java Governor Regulation Number 2 of 2018 concerning the Development of Seeds and/or Livestock Seedlings and Animal Feed Greens in the Community.

"Resilient breeding will have an impact on the realization of competitive cultivation businesses in the community, which will lead to increased income and welfare for livestock farmers," said Linda, Wednesday (19/8/2026).

The distributed breeds of cattle are also adapted to the potential of the region, namely Peranakan Ongole (PO) cattle for Pangandaran and Sumedang, as well as the local cattle that are the pride of West Java, namely Pasundan cattle, for breeders in Ciamis.

The selection of the three recipient groups was not done haphazardly, but rather went through a very strict administrative selection and field verification process.

Based on the Minutes of the Verification Results of the Livestock Groups dated July 27, 2026, the three groups were recommended after achieving satisfactory feasibility scores. The Tirta Mulya and Karya Mekar I groups both achieved scores of 72.5, while Mekar Mandiri achieved a score of 62.0.

This verification ensures that each recipient group has adequate livestock facilities in the form of pen facilities and potential feed resources so that the survival and reproduction of the cattle seeds can be properly guaranteed.
