PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government (Indonesia) and the Selangor State Government (Malaysia) launched the Selangor International Business Summit, SIBS@ASEAN 2026 Bandung Edition.

This regional business meeting took place for 2 days in Bandung on July 9-10, 2026. 425 delegates attended the event, consisting of 225 delegates from Malaysia and 200 delegates from Indonesia.

This forum aims to open up opportunities for bilateral trade and investment cooperation, encourage investment in the industrial sector, and build long-term partnerships.

SIBS@ASEAN 2026 Bandung Edition also features the Selangor Medical Tourism and Education Expo, organized in collaboration with Tourism Selangor and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). The expo features 30 booths in healthcare and higher education.

West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan said the meeting was an effort to improve trade/business relations between the two countries and strengthen cooperation at the ASEAN level.

"It is an honor for the West Java Provincial Government to host the 2026 SIBS event. I am confident that this event will further enhance the good cooperation between the Selangor Government and the West Java Provincial Government," Erwan said in his remarks.

Erwan added that West Java's investment realization consistently ranks among the highest nationally, with Malaysia being one of the largest investors in West Java. This is reflected in Malaysian investment realization in West Java over the past five years, reaching IDR 47 trillion. In terms of tourism, Malaysian tourist visits to West Java account for 12.5 percent of the total number of international tourists visiting West Java.

"This shows that West Java is widely known by the Malaysian public," he stressed.

In terms of trade, Malaysia is also among the top 10 export destinations for various commodities from West Java. West Java's trade balance with Malaysia recorded a surplus of USD 1.1 billion. This underscores the close trade ties between Malaysia and West Java, particularly Selangor.

West Java's population has now reached 51 million, with the majority of those of productive age. This makes West Java not only a potentially large market but also a productive workforce ready to support investment needs.

With ready infrastructure, such as Patimban International Port, Kertajati International Airport, and also toll road networks such as the Cisumdawu Toll Road, Purbaleunyi Toll Road, and Cipali Toll Road, which strengthen inter-regional connectivity, facilitate the distribution of goods and services, and support logistics efficiency for business actors.

From an economic perspective, West Java's economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 reached 5.79 percent, exceeding national economic growth, or above the national average.

"We are committed to supporting and encouraging sustainable and inclusive investment growth, in line with the vision of West Java Special Region, namely a West Java that is advanced, prosperous, and competitive," he said.

Selangor Chief Minister Dato Seri Amirudin Shari hopes that this meeting will not be merely ceremonial, but will be ongoing.

"This must be followed up immediately by both business actors in West Java and Selangor. We must seize various business and investment opportunities from both sides so that in the future, our kinship, Malaysia with Indonesia, Selangor with West Java, will be even better," he said.

In this way, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) document was also signed which includes a strategic partnership to encourage institutional collaboration across the public and private sectors.

The institutions that signed the MoU include the Women Empowerment Association of Selangor (WBS) with the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), Caregivers Academy International Group, WBS, the Darmawan Vocational Training Institute (LPK), and PT Rukun Sahabat Senior Living.

Then, the MoU between Tourism Selangor and Batik Air, Tourism Selangor and the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA), University of Selangor (UNISEL) and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and the Letter of Intent (LOL): GreatAsic Technology and the Indonesia Chip Design Collaborative Center (ICDeC)

Dedi Taufik, Head of the West Java Province Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency and Helmy Yahya, Chief Executive of the Rebana Metropolitan Management Agency, also explained the potential of the Rebana area.
