BALIKPAPAN – The West Java Provincial Government won an award as the second best province nationally in the 2024 Regional Government Implementation Report (LPPD).

This award was given in commemoration of the 29th Regional Autonomy Day which was held at the BSCC Balikpapan Dome Field, East Kalimantan, Friday (4/25/2025), and was received directly by the Deputy Governor of West Java Erwan Setiawan from the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya.

This achievement shows a significant increase from the previous year, where West Java was in fourth place.

Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan expressed his gratitude for the achievement and appreciated the hard work of all levels of government at the provincial, city and district levels.

"Alhamdulillah, this is a two-level leap that reflects the increasingly better performance of the local government. We dedicate this award to all elements of the government and the people of West Java," said Erwan.

However, he emphasized that this award is not the end point, but rather an encouragement to continue improving governance to be more transparent and accountable.

"As mandated by Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government, we want to continue to improve performance so that Regional Incentive Funds also increase and development can be more evenly distributed," he added.

More than just an administrative achievement, this achievement places West Java as a national reference in regional governance.

With an LPPD score that is in the “Very High” category, West Java has the potential to become a role model for other provinces, especially in terms of innovation, efficiency of public services, regional development, and bureaucratic reform.

In addition, good performance in LPPD also opens up greater opportunities for West Java to obtain Regional Incentive Funds (DID) from the central government. This additional fiscal incentive is very important to encourage accelerated development and fulfillment of regional needs.

Not only does it have an impact on the institution, this award also helps to improve the reputation of the Governor and the ranks of the Provincial Government at the national level, both administratively and politically.

This recognition is an added value in public assessment and supports the legitimacy and continuity of regional leadership.
