PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - August is an important month for all Indonesian people because it was in this month that the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia was achieved, on August 17 1945 to be precise.
To brighten up the commemoration of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, many people put up billboards, decorative lighting advertisements, banners, flags and banners so that the atmosphere in their home environment is festive.
In this regard, PLN (Persero) West Java Distribution Main Unit reminded the public of the dangers of installing banners that are too close to the electricity network.
General Manager of PLN UID West Java, Susiana Mutia, emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe distance of at least 3 meters from the electricity network when installing banners or similar decorations.
"West Java PLN UID continues to strive to maintain network reliability and security by intensively conducting outreach and education to the public," said Susiana, Thursday (1/8/2024).
According to Susiana, maintaining a safe distance on the electric power network is one of the efforts to create reliable and safe electricity conditions for electrical installations, safe from danger to humans and other living creatures, and environmentally friendly, especially during the festive season of August.
"We remind you to always pay attention to a safe distance. Installing decorative knick-knacks too close to the electricity network has a bad impact because apart from endangering the surrounding community and people passing by, it can also cause disruption to the flow of electricity. Bamboo that touches the electricity network can cause a short circuit so that the electricity goes out," he said. .
Susiana also explained that as a direct preventive measure in the field, PLN would deploy a team to inspect potential dangers to the electricity network, from installing banners, flags, decorative lights to banners on the main electricity distribution route.
"If a potential danger is found, we will take disciplinary action and educate the relevant community," he said.
Furthermore, Susiana conveyed the support of PLN UID West Java in maintaining the reliability of electricity supply when the community commemorated the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. Various efforts have been made in the form of routine maintenance at distribution substations, as well as network security, by pruning trees every day that are close to the network or that will touch the network through the line distancing program.
"We are also alerting officers on standby, so that recovery can be carried out immediately, this is an effort to maintain the reliability of the electricity network supply," he said.
Susiana also emphasized that activities that disrupt the electricity network, apart from being dangerous, can also cause power outages whose recovery takes a long time. Officers must search along the network to find points of interference.
"To prevent various undesirable things, let's protect the electricity network for mutual safety and comfort. If someone takes action that endangers the electricity network, warn, stop and report it via the PLN Mobile Application," concluded Susiana. (Parno)
