PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government has taken over the construction of a bridge in Margacinta Village, Cijulang District, Pangandaran Regency. The bridge will replace the suspension bridge in the village that collapsed shortly after its inauguration on Sunday (August 30, 2026).
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that the bridge the West Java Provincial Government will build in Margacinta Village will be a permanent bridge. This will ensure a more robust construction.
"We will soon build a permanent bridge so that many people and cars can pass through it, and it can transport agricultural, livestock, fishery, and marine products," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, Wednesday (2/9/2026).
A permanent bridge will be built in 2027. KDM hopes that the permanent bridge will improve the community's economy. He also advised villagers not to use the bridge for racing.
Previously, a suspension bridge in Margacinta Village collapsed and buckled shortly after its inauguration on Sunday (August 30, 2026) at 4:00 p.m. WIB. Pangandaran Regent Citra Pitriyami and dozens of residents were on the bridge when the incident occurred.
KDM emphasized that the collapsed suspension bridge was not built by the West Java Provincial Government. However, due to the Pangandaran Regency Government's limited funds, the West Java Provincial Government will build a new bridge in Margacinta Village.
