PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - The Regent of Garut, Rudy Gunawan, expressed his hopes to the Garut District Health Service regarding the integration of RSUD dr. Welcome to the Garut Health Office Structure.
This statement was made during the Six Monthly Meeting for Coordination and Evaluation of the Implementation of Early Detection, Prevention and Response to Diseases at the Garut Regency level, in the Harmoni Hotel Ballroom, Garut Regency, Monday (20/11/2023).
The Regent explained that the change in the status of RSUD dr. Slamet became a Special Organizational Unit (UOBK) at the Garut Health Office intended to harmonize health management from a preventive, promotive and curative perspective. This process will take place starting Friday, November 24 2023, with administrative steps that have been prepared.
Following the latest law (UU Number 17 of 2023) concerning health, Rudy emphasized the importance of focusing on preventive aspects to reduce the need for hospital treatment. Even so, he realized that hospitals remained the last hope for underprivileged people.
"If the hospital beds are empty, it means that prevention is good, promotion is good, the level of public health, including SPM, is very good," he said.
Head of the Garut Health Office, dr. Leli Yuliani, explained that the meeting was held in response to the increase in cases of infectious and non-communicable diseases after the long impact of COVID-19.
So, added Leli, if this condition is not immediately addressed and prevented as early as possible, it is possible that it could result in increased morbidity and mortality rates, and even the emergence of a lost generation as the nation's successor.
He also explained that there are several objectives for implementing this activity, starting from the preparation of a strategic plan for the prevention and control of disease and the use of Minimum Service Standards (SPM) in the health sector, as an effort to increase early awareness and protect the people of Garut Regency from various threats of health problems in future.
The Garut Health Office invited health stakeholders to formulate control and early detection strategies, involving 228 participants from various health units in Garut Regency, with the aim of developing disease control strategies and meeting targets for achieving Minimum Service Standards (SPM) in the health sector.
