PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Central Statistics Agency (BPS) stated that the percentage of poor people in March 2024 was 7.46 percent, decreasing by 0.16 percentage points compared to March 2023 and decreasing by 0.52 percentage points compared to September 2022 .
The number of poor people in March 2024 was 3.89 million people, decreasing by 39.93 thousand people compared to March 2023 and decreasing by 204.94 thousand people compared to September 2022 .
Responding to the latest data from West Java BPS, Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin said that the West Java Provincial Government together with districts and cities are carrying out various programs to continue to reduce poverty.
For example, by increasing community access to education and health, especially for underprivileged families.
"We often go around, leaving the sub-district head with it. Education, especially for children from underprivileged families and also health. That is one of the keys to reducing (poverty)," said Bey Machmudin at the West Java BPS office, Bandung City, Monday ( 1/7/2024 ).
West Java BPS further added that the percentage of urban poor in March 2023 was 7.19 percent, decreasing to 7.07 percent in March 2024.
Meanwhile, the percentage of poor rural residents in March 2023 was 9.30 percent, dropping to 9.07 percent in March 2024.
The Poverty Line in March 2024 was recorded at IDR 524,052/capita/month with a composition of the Food Poverty Line of IDR 391,347 (74.68 percent) and the Non-Food Poverty Line of IDR 132,705 (25.32 percent).
Meanwhile, in June 2024, West Java's year-on-year (YoY) inflation will be 2.38 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Bekasi City at 2.92 percent.
In June 2024, West Java Province year-on-year (YoY) inflation will be 2.38 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.77.
The highest inflation occurred in Bekasi City at 2.92 percent with a CPI of 107.43 and the lowest occurred in Cirebon City at 1.43 percent with a CPI of 104.87.
YoY inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the expenditure group index, especially the food, beverage and tobacco group, by 4.24 percent. Then the personal care and other services group was 6.71 percent.
Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decline was the information, communication and financial services group by 0.37 percent.
The month to month (m-to-m) deflation rate for West Java Province in June 2024 is 0.04 percent. Meanwhile, the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 1.11 percent.
Head of West Java BPS Marsudijono said that the inflation figures this time were much better than the previous year. Even though inflation tends to fall, vigilance still needs to be exercised so that the figures remain under control until December 2024.
