PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government will disburse the quality improvement honorarium for honorary teachers with a four-month arrears on April 30, 2026, thereby helping to meet the economic needs of educators.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the funds were immediately transferred to each recipient's account before 3:00 PM WIB.

"Thank God, the HMP has been disbursed. This was paid in arrears for four months," said Farhan.

The disbursement was delayed due to the administrative process requiring approval from the provincial and central governments and the issuance of a mayoral regulation.

"This regulation is quite a lengthy process. It requires approval from the governor and the central government. But now I've signed it, and God willing, it will be disbursed today," said Farhan.

The Bandung City Government also distributed assistance for those in need of continuing education for elementary, junior high, and university students with a total budget of almost IDR 5 billion.

Assistance is provided on the condition that there is no withholding of diplomas, thus guaranteeing students' rights to continue their education.

"If a school withholds a diploma, especially if it's proven, its RMP assistance will be revoked. In public schools, the principal can be immediately removed," Farhan said.

This policy has a direct impact on society by maintaining the continuity of education and reducing the burden on families' costs.

The Bandung City Government also maintains the stability of teaching staff to prevent layoffs for both honorary teachers and government employees with work agreements.

"If everyone is made a PPPK, employee spending could jump by up to 50 percent. This is something we must manage carefully," said Farhan.

The Bandung City Government is reviewing welfare improvement schemes, including the possibility of increasing additional employee income starting in 2027.

"We are exploring possibilities so that in the future we can not only prevent layoffs but also improve welfare, including through the TPP," said Farhan.

This step ensures that teacher welfare is maintained while maintaining a sustainable balance in the regional budget.
