PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is coordinating with the police to investigate the theft of traffic light cables to prevent service disruptions.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said cables, especially copper ones, are a target for theft and therefore require joint security measures.

"We are indeed coordinating with the police and ensuring that the perpetrators will be arrested soon. A lot of cables, especially copper cables, are being stolen," Farhan said on Friday (September 18, 2026).

According to Farhan, security of facilities in the field needs to be supported by police measures to prevent repeated thefts.

"We're dealing with security issues. However, when it comes to crime prevention, we collaborate with the police," he said.

Farhan admitted that he had not received definitive data regarding the number of traffic light cable thefts in Bandung City.

"I don't know the exact data yet, but I'm waiting for the information," he said.
