PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Deputy Regent (Wabup) of Garut, Putri Karlina visited the Sagara tourist attraction located in Sucinaraja District, Garut Regency, on Tuesday (22/4/2025).

This visit was the first time for the Deputy Regent to see firsthand the natural tourism potential in the region.

"This is my first visit here because previously I had only heard about it through local stories," said Putri Karlina.

On that occasion, the Deputy Regent expressed his gratitude to Perhutani for their collaboration in highlighting natural potential that can be developed into an economic sector in Garut Regency, especially in Sucinaraja District.

"I know that there are still limitations, especially regarding road access and budget issues," he said.

However, he emphasized the principle, if a place has economic potential that can help increase regional income, then the government will try to develop it with careful study and consideration.

The Deputy Regent also highlighted the condition of several other tourist destinations in Garut that still require special attention, such as Situ Bagendit, Talaga Bodas, Sayang Heulang, Santolo, Karang Papak, Ranca Buaya, and Pameungpeuk.

The party is committed to continuing to repair damaged road access so that it can be passed properly by the people of Garut Regency.

To the Sagara tourism managers, the Deputy Regent advised that the existing extension potential be managed well so that the government can provide maximum support.

He also appreciated the cleanliness of the Sagara tourist area, which he considered relatively under control, and hoped that good service would continue to be maintained for visitors.

"I think, overall, the cleanliness of the Sagara tourist area is not disturbing to the eye or is still very under control," he said.

He added that although assistance could not be provided optimally at this time, the Tourism and Culture Office and related agencies would continue to provide attention and assistance according to their capabilities.

The Deputy Regent also expressed his optimism regarding the sustainable development of Garut.

"I remain optimistic, the development of Garut cannot start from zero every five years. It must be continued, whoever the next Regent or Deputy Regent is. I hope the direction of development can be determined today so that Garut has a clear goal, so that with each change of regional head the program can run and be sustainable," he stressed.

In the end, the Deputy Regent gave encouragement to the Sagara tourism managers.

"Keep up the spirit for fellow managers here. Hopefully from this tourism, village independence can be realized," he concluded. (Garut Communication and Information Service/Fau)
