PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government held a health campaign entitled "Fight Nicotine, No Nicotine, No Hassle!" at SMAN 20 Bandung to educate hundreds of students to stay away from cigarettes and nicotine-based products to maintain the health and achievements of the younger generation.
Bandung City Regional Secretary Iskandar Zulkarnain said that students need to have the courage to reject nicotine in order to stay healthy, productive, and focused on achieving their dreams.
"The young people of Bandung must have the courage to say no to nicotine. You are the future generation, a creative generation, a healthy generation. Don't let your productivity and aspirations be ruined by cigarettes and nicotine addiction," said Iskandar (May 21, 2026).
The Bandung City Government continues to provide health education in schools to create safe and comfortable learning spaces that support the development of positive character in students.
"We want schools to be safe, comfortable, and healthy places that support the growth of positive character in Bandung's young people," said Iskandar.
Head of the Bandung City Health Office, Sony Adam, explained that cigarette and nicotine consumption can impact lung health, reduce concentration in learning, and disrupt the physical fitness of adolescents.
"We continue to educate students to understand that nicotine is not a lifestyle solution. In fact, a healthy life without cigarettes will make the younger generation more active, productive, and confident," he said.
Sony appreciates the involvement of schools and students who actively contribute to the success of the healthy living campaign.
The educational activities were further enhanced by the presence of national basketball athlete Timo, who shared his experience of maintaining physical fitness to maintain athletic performance and achievement.
In a motivational session, Timo encouraged students to make exercise a positive lifestyle choice rather than trying cigarettes or vaping.
"If you want good stamina, great achievements, and a bright future, stay away from nicotine. Athletes take care of their bodies every day. You too can start now by living a healthy and active lifestyle," he said.
The students also performed an anti-nicotine campaign choreography that conveyed the message of healthy living in a creative and energetic way.
Through this campaign, the Bandung City Government hopes to increase students' awareness of the dangers of nicotine, thereby creating a healthy, active, and smoke-free school environment.
