PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - In an effort to maintain safety, the Head of the Garut Police Traffic Unit (Kasatlantas), Inspector Aang Andi Suhandi, invites parents to play an active role in supervising their children, especially before and after sahur time, to prevent dangerous activities such as illegal racing which could endanger yourself or others.

This invitation was conveyed by Inspector Aang, after giving a talk show on the Communication and Solutions Forum (FOKUS) on Radio Intan Garut (15/3/2024), with the theme Lodaya Safety 2024.

"That's why in this operation, if there is a convoy that could disturb the public or illegal racing, we apologize, we from the Garut Police Traffic Unit will not hesitate and will not hesitate to take action against this," he stressed.

With community involvement and awareness, it is hoped that traffic order and smoothness will be created in Garut, thereby increasing the level of safety for all road users.

Inspector Aang accompanied by the Head of Traffic Safety (Kamsel), Kasatlantas Garut Police, Ipda Marlina explained that the Lodaya Safety Operation in Garut Regency lasted for 14 days, from March 4 to March 17 2024, as part of a similar operation carried out nationally.

The main focus of this operation is to increase the Garut community's compliance with traffic rules, with the hope of reducing traffic violations and accidents. By deploying 174 personnel, this operation is particularly focused on urban areas and other areas such as Limbangan, Malangbong and Kadungora.

"These targets are our priority for vehicles that do not use SNI helmets, that go against the flow, and children are now increasingly in Garut Regency who are still underage using these vehicles," said Kasatlantas.

Furthermore, Inspector Aang emphasized that the Lodaya Safety Operation prioritizes outreach and education to the community, while legal action is only a last resort.

"And we also carry out action with electronic ticketing. If it is something that can be dangerous, that can cause fatalities to the victim, something that is dangerous, such as over dimensions and over load, we will carry it out with real compulsion," he said.

So that humanist education and outreach to the community can be conveyed.
The police also involve themselves in various outreach activities, such as visits to schools and communities as well as direct interactions with the community during the ngabuburit time at Alun-Laun Garut. (Diskominfo Garut/Fauziah)
