PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is organizing the culinary areas of Cibadak, Cihapit, and Pasar Baru to ensure business activities remain vibrant and comfortable.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the arrangement was carried out together with the West Java Provincial Government to maintain order in public spaces (26/8/2026).

Farhan emphasized that the culinary sector remains a driving force of the economy and tourism, so businesses need space to develop.

"It's true that Cihapit is the center of the culinary area, but if there's no order, we'll take action," said Farhan.

The arrangement does not only involve regulation, but also prioritizes dialogue with business actors to find more suitable activity locations.

"The plan is to regulate it. Then, we'll engage the perpetrators in dialogue and say, 'Come on, let's find a place that keeps the park nice so we can enjoy the food more deliciously,'" he said.

The Bandung City Government and the West Java Provincial Government are currently coordinating the technical arrangements for several culinary areas that utilize public spaces.

"We will coordinate with the province regarding the implementation later," he said.

Farhan explained that culinary areas that utilize public spaces will implement the principle of coming clean and leaving clean.

This concept prevents the existence of permanent or semi-permanent buildings that have the potential to disrupt the function of public spaces.

"Permanent and semi-permanent structures will be categorized as illegal structures. The solution can be seen in Cihampelas and Lengkong Kecil. Some areas will eventually become like that," he explained.

The arrangement is expected to create a healthy business ecosystem without eliminating the economic activities of culinary actors who have been enlivening the area.

In addition to Cibadak and Cihapit, the Bandung City Government is preparing the Pasar Baru area as a new culinary center to stimulate economic activity.

"Pasar Baru, from the right turn at Kebon Jati to Sudirman, will also become a culinary center. It will revive the area," he said.

This arrangement is aimed at creating a more orderly, comfortable, attractive culinary area and supporting tourist visits to the city of Bandung.

The Bandung City Government hopes that dialogue with business actors and cross-government coordination will result in a culinary area that remains active without sacrificing public comfort.

"Through collaboration and dialogue with business owners, we can create a comfortable, orderly culinary area that can attract tourists," he said.
