PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi invited all engineers in Indonesia to carry out their duties in accordance with the code of ethics.

KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, stated that his office desperately needs engineers to solve short-term or daily problems residents face, such as traffic jams and flooding in Bandung.

Small problems like traffic jams in West Java's cities are exacerbated by poorly organized transportation. Therefore, KDM offers a solution: replacing aging public transportation with new ones.

"There's no need to store it with the owner anymore, but to create a regional character, where the cars will be environmentally friendly, child-friendly, and pregnant-mother-friendly, and also provide welfare for the drivers," said KDM, at the 44th Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (CAFEO 44) held by the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) in Bandung, West Java, starting today, Tuesday (20/10/2026).

The plan will soon be discussed with the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII).

KDM also advised engineers to carry out their work in accordance with a code of ethics. "In the medical world, there is 'malpractice,' and it will then be discussed by the ethics board, with sanctions imposed. Engineers are essentially the same as in the medical world; problems that arise due to poor planning, technical engineering, or management must be openly discussed," he explained.

The ethics council of PII can issue light to heavy punishments and sanctions (blacklisting) for engineers who violate the code of ethics.

"In the future, PII will have a stronger ethical influence so that people work in three ways: for the sake of God, for the sake of humanity, and for the sake of justice," KDM hoped.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (PII), Dr.-Ing. Ir. Ilham Akbar Habibie, stated that his party is ready to collaborate with local governments, including in the transportation sector.

"We're looking for something more environmentally friendly and sustainable with public transportation in the form of public transportation (angkot). The general concept is to maintain employment opportunities for public transportation drivers. So, the concept has been changed so that in the future, public transportation drivers will operate like small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and will own their own vehicles," he explained.

According to him, transportation vehicles themselves must also be converted into electronic vehicles, with electrification of public transportation and standardization.
