PORTALJABAR, SUMEDANG REGENCY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi invited the people of Sumedang to be proud of what they have today.

Sumedang has a long history, beginning with the Tembong Agung Kingdom founded by King Aji Putih, which later evolved into the Sumedang Larang Kingdom under King Tadjimalela. This kingdom is known as the legitimate successor to the glory of the last Pajajaran Kingdom.

Sumedang also has spiritual arts that are able to build humans who understand themselves.

"The Sumedang people created tofu, thus Sumedang tofu was born, creating Cilembu resulted in Cilembu sweet potato," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, at the Kasumedangan Cultural Ecosystem event in the framework of Sumedang's 448th Anniversary, in front of the Sumedang Regency State Building, Friday (24/4/2026).

KDM also invites the people of Sumedang to raise their status by not relying on other people's gifts.

"The people of Sumedang are not people who like to beg, but rather a society that has dignity, respect, and self-worth," added KDM.

He also hopes that the leaders in Sumedang will provide justice and care for their people who are in need.

"Leaders should not be selective, leaders must be fair, use feelings and intuition, and be strong," he said.

KDM also invited all Sumedang residents to make changes if they want a just leader and for the Sumedang people to be respected.

"We should not be a nation that begs, but a people who have leadership, personality and a chivalrous attitude," KDM emphasized.

On the other hand, KDM also invites all Sumedang residents, from its leaders to its people, to be proud and promote what they have to people outside Sumedang.

"Build good branding, promote its beautiful nature, its mountains, its rice fields. Convey that Sumedang is beautiful. Organize and improve it. Take care of the roads, clean up the trash," concluded KDM.
