PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has temporarily suspended the Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Samsat (Vehicle Tax Administration) in Bandung City due to the non-implementation of the policy on simplifying annual motor vehicle tax payments. Starting April 6, 2026, taxpayers will find it easier to pay their annual motor vehicle tax because they will no longer need to bring the original vehicle owner's ID card (KTP).
Taxpayers only need to bring the Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK) and the National Identity Card (KTP) of the party in control of the vehicle. This policy is outlined in Circular Letter (SE) Number 47/KU.03.02/BAPENDA.
Based on field investigations and public reports via social media, the circular's implementation has not been optimal at the Soekarno-Hatta Samsat (Vehicle Tax Office) in Bandung City. Taxpayers are still required to bring the ID card of the first vehicle owner when paying their annual Motor Vehicle Tax.
"We still find officers who are not serving the public well and ignoring the Governor's Circular. Therefore, today I have temporarily suspended the Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Samsat," KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, stated in Bandung on Wednesday (April 8, 2026).
Furthermore, KDM instructed the Inspectorate team and the West Java Regional Personnel Agency to find out the reasons why the ease of paying Motor Vehicle Tax at the Soekarno-Hatta Samsat had not been implemented.
He appealed to Samsat officers to provide the best service to the public and not to ignore the Circular Letter of the Governor of West Java.
The ease of annual Motor Vehicle Tax payments, said KDM, is expected to expedite tax payments by the public.
In addition, this convenience can also increase public awareness and compliance in paying Motor Vehicle Tax.
