PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government together with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Indonesian Attorney General's Office are strengthening supervision of the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) through the Jaga Indonesia Pintar platform.

Through this platform, students can report whether they received their PIP assistance in full, partially, or even incompletely. This ensures that educational assistance is being properly targeted and prevents leakage in its distribution.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi hopes that with the new PIP scheme, which distributes aid directly to students' accounts, there will no longer be financial barriers for children to attend school.

"I hope children in West Java will no longer be concerned about their parents' wealth and poverty; everyone can go to school. Starting this school year, lower-middle-class people will be able to attend school without paying," he said at an event titled "Synergy Between the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the Indonesian Attorney General's Office in Supervising the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP)" at the Aryaduta Hotel in Bandung on Wednesday (May 6, 2026).

Currently, there are around 175,000 students receiving PIP benefits in West Java. Dedi hopes this number will increase with central government support, while also hoping that the community's economic conditions will continue to improve, reducing dependence on aid.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Atip Latipulhayat emphasized that the collaboration with the Attorney General's Office aims to ensure that the PIP program runs according to its main targets, namely breaking the cycle of poverty and reducing the school dropout rate.

"In its implementation, there are indeed some systems that aren't working as they should. Therefore, improvements are being made to ensure that the PIP is truly targeted," he said.

He also stated that any violations found in aid distribution would be prosecuted in accordance with regulations. To that end, the Attorney General's Office has launched a monitoring platform called Jaga Indonesia Pintar.

The Attorney General's Office also invited all education stakeholders related to PIP to make improvements and carry out supervision.

Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence Reda Manthovani explained that the platform provides direct reporting access for beneficiaries.

"If there are criminal elements, we will follow up. If not, it will be forwarded to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for governance improvements," he explained.

He stated that potential leaks have occurred during the acceptance stage. Therefore, reporting is focused directly on beneficiaries, not schools.

To strengthen the verification of reports on the platform, the Prosecutor's Office is also collaborating with the Village Consultative Body (BPD), which will form a task force at the village level.
