PORTALJABAR, MAJALENGKA REGENCY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi met with the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) at West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati. The meeting discussed cooperation in managing BIJB Kertajati as a strategic domestic defense industrial center.
KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, said that this meeting was a follow-up to the previous discussion held in Lembur Pakuan, Subang Regency.
"In principle, if a country has no divisions, everything is a single entity. But from an administrative perspective, we each have our own administrative responsibilities. We each have our own recorded assets and our own debts and receivables," he explained on Thursday (October 1, 2026).
The agreement to cooperate in managing BIJB Kertajati will then be followed up with a Cooperation Agreement (PKS).
"In the first phase, we're not thinking about commercial matters, crowds, or growth. Instead, we're thinking about PTDI being here, then MROs being here, foreign aircraft repair shops being here, and then supporting industries being here," he said.
If everything is available at BIJB Kertajati, according to KDM, it will ultimately grow the trade cycle, especially regarding the aerospace aspect.
"It's impossible for everything to be local. There will definitely be transfers between regions, provinces, and countries. Ultimately, commercial demand will grow," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Defense Logistics Agency of the Ministry of Defense, Air Marshal Yusuf Jauhari, stated that the steps taken for this collaboration had been reported to President Prabowo Subianto and received a very positive response.
According to Yusuf, in the near future his party will move the Air Force flight school with its mess in Sukani, then move the Air Squadron from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to BIJB and PTDI and its subsidiaries including several companies that collaborate with PTDI.
"We hope to start construction in January. The flight school will be ready in November or December, if permitted, so that activities can take place," he said.
