PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has asked private schools to open educational access for lower-middle-class students who have not been accepted into public schools in the 2026/2027 academic year. Collaboration between the West Java Provincial Government and private schools is crucial to ensuring students continue their education to senior high schools (SMA) and vocational schools (SMK).

Dedi also hopes that the West Java Provincial Government's budget to fund private school tuition will be approved by private school foundations. The West Java Provincial Government plans to cover Rp 2.7 million in tuition fees for private school students in the first year.

"Don't let the governor be put in a dilemma. On the one hand, adding classes at public schools is not allowed, but on the other hand, private schools are being offered cooperation with a certain budget, but they refuse," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, on Friday (June 19, 2026).

Without the role of private schools, children from low-income backgrounds who are not accepted into public schools are at risk of dropping out of school. KDM emphasized that, as governor, he is working to prevent this from happening.

He hopes that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds will have the same access to education as those from wealthy families. Several students from economically advantaged backgrounds, Dedi said, have already decided to attend private schools in the 2026/2027 academic year. Meanwhile, several other students identified in the 2026 SPMB will attend public schools.
