PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The flooding problem that frequently occurs in the South Bandung area, especially in Bandung Regency when it rains, is one of the problems that is still being resolved.
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that several factors must be addressed to prevent flooding in the area, one of which is the need to immediately change the spatial planning of Bandung Regency.
"The factors causing flooding in Bandung Regency are spatial planning, the rivers must be normalized, the river upstream must be revitalized to become green areas," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, Wednesday (15/4/2026).
In addition, according to him, the change in agricultural land into land is also a cause of flooding that continues to occur when it rains.
"Land conversion shouldn't continue, with rice fields being converted into housing developments and all that. If that continues, it won't be sustainable and will continue," KDM said.
KDM also highlighted the many buildings standing on the riverbanks, thus disrupting the river flow.
"Houses on the riverbanks must be converted into green open space," concluded KDM.
