PORTALJABAR, SUMEDANG REGENCY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the simultaneous digital village head elections (Pilkades) in all villages in Sumedang Regency. Ninety-two villages held the digital elections, with 423 polling stations (TPS) and over 270,000 voters.

According to KDM, Kang Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, this digital e-village head election (Pilkada) is an effort to ensure democracy continues to evolve with technological advancements. Villagers are already accustomed to using digital media.

According to KDM, before Sumedang Regency, this digital electronic village head election had been carried out in several areas in West Java, namely in Indramayu, Bakasi and Karawang.

"First in Indramayu, but not all of them. Then in Bekasi not all of them, Karawang not all of them. Yesterday I called the Regent (Sumedang) about two weeks ago. I said, everything must be digital, all villages and we can organize it," said KDM, while reviewing the Digital Village Head Election activities in Cibeureum Wetan Village, TPS 01 Cibeureum Wetan Village Office, Cimalaka District, Sumedang Regency, Wednesday (10/28/2026).

After Sumedang Regency, digital electronic village head elections are planned to be held in several areas, namely Subang, Cianjur, digital Ciamis, and Karawang.

"Going forward, all village head election activities in West Java will use digital devices," KDM hopes.

According to him, there are many advantages to conducting village head elections electronically, including lower costs due to the elimination of ballot printing. Furthermore, the election process is shorter, particularly for vote counting, and can minimize fraud.

"Imagine if there were a large number of voters, it would require counting. Especially if there were several types of elections in one day, where each vote would be counted individually. With this system, the counting would be eliminated, it would be automatic, and it would shorten the time," he explained.

Meanwhile, Sumedang Regent Dony Ahmad Munir expressed his appreciation to the West Java Provincial Government for supporting the implementation of the digital electronic village head elections in Sumedang.

"Thank you to the Governor for his directive to implement digital electronic village head elections simultaneously in all villages in Sumedang Regency," he said.

He ensured that the first digital electronic village head elections were held smoothly.
