PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi inaugurated a plastic waste processing facility at the Hyundai Waste Recycling Center, Wanajaya Village, Cibitung District, Bekasi Regency, Thursday (16/10/2025).

This facility, owned by PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI), was built to address plastic waste pollution and create a circular economy. Residents gain added economic value from recycling plastic into commercial products.

This plastic waste processing center also serves as an education center on the impact of plastic waste on the environment.

"This is a very productive form of waste recycling, it's really cool," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, during a media interview.

KDM hopes this facility will serve as an inspiring example for other companies. The general public is also encouraged to be more aware and proactive in sorting and processing waste.

"Going forward, I ask that this be an example, and that the community also actively sort waste at home," he said.

Construction of this plastic waste processing facility began in early May 2025. Its presence is targeted to significantly reduce the burden of plastic waste while providing economic benefits from recycling.

Following the inauguration, KDM, accompanied by the Bekasi Regent and the HMMI board of directors, inspected the plastic waste recycling process, converting it into plastic pellets, which are used as raw materials for high-value products. (pim)
