PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi welcomed the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation's plan to reactivate and electrify the Padalarang-Cicalengka Railway (KA) line, or build an electric railway line. This was conveyed by Governor KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname after receiving a visit from Indonesian Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi at the Pakuan State Building in Bandung City, Friday (10/10/2025).
"Yes, of course I welcome this, because this is in line with the West Java Provincial Government's program in the transportation sector," he said.
In addition, the West Java Provincial Government also plans to reactivate Husein Sastranegara Airport and optimize Kertajati Airport.
"For Husein, we'll add flight routes, while Kertajati is specifically for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. Kertajati is a valuable West Java asset, and it can't be left idle for long," said KDM.
Indonesian Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi himself explained that the electrification of the Padalarang-Cicalengka train project will begin in 2026.
"God willing, we'll start in 2026. And we won't be using the state budget, but we'll involve state-owned enterprises (BUMN), regional-owned enterprises (BUMD), and the private sector," said Dudy.
Dudy added that other regions will also build train electrification, with the same scheme.
"This will also be implemented in other regions (West Java and outside West Java) with the same scheme, namely the involvement of the private sector, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD) in the form of investment," he stressed.
Padalarang - Cicalengka itself has a route length of around 42 KM.
"It will be completed by 2027 at the latest," Dudy concluded.
