PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, seriously highlighted the current condition of teenagers which is considered worrying.
In his statement, KDM - the governor's nickname - said that many teenage behaviors have developed into acute social problems, even approaching criminal acts.
"Today's youth problems are terrible. Many of their behavior leads to criminal acts," said KDM, Tuesday (4/29/2025).
According to KDM, this situation shows the need for real action from all elements of society, not just discourse or discussion.
"We often prefer to discuss rather than take real action. If this is allowed to continue, our children will be depressed," he stressed.
As a concrete step, KDM emphasized its commitment to fixing these social problems, including prohibiting teenagers from begging on the streets.
He also explained that currently he prefers to go directly to the field to solve problems, rather than just attending various discussion invitations.
"I have to be present in person, because orders alone are not enough to solve the problem," he said.
KDM invites all people of West Java to jointly protect and guide the younger generation to avoid various forms of social deviation.
Previously, the West Java Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Dedi Mulyadi will implement a special coaching program for troubled teenagers, which will start on May 2, 2025.
This policy was born out of deep concern over the increasing deviant behavior among teenagers, ranging from brawls, alcohol abuse, to criminal acts.
Through this program, teenagers who are reported by parents or local authorities as being difficult to guide will be sent to a military complex to undergo character and discipline education for six months to one year.
This program is part of the West Java Provincial Government's commitment to maintaining social order, improving the quality of the younger generation, and building a better future.
