JAKARTA - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, along with several regents and mayors, signed a Joint Agreement on Urban Waste Management through Environmentally Friendly Technology-Based Waste Processing into Electrical Energy (PSEL). The PSEL will be built at two locations in West Java: the Sarimukti Landfill in West Bandung Regency and Kayumanis Village in Bogor City.

The Sarimukti Landfill will be used by the residents of Bandung City, Cimahi City, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, Cianjur Regency, and Purwakarta Regency. Meanwhile, the Kayumanis Bogor Landfill will process waste from the residents of Bogor City and Depok City.

KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, said that this agreement was a directive from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to resolve a long-standing acute problem.

"At the direction of the President, we can solve an acute problem that has existed for decades, spending a huge budget," said KDM, at the South Tower, Plaza Kuningan, Jl. HR Rasuna Said Kav. C11-14, Karet Kuningan, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, Tuesday (7/4/2026).

In fact, to solve this problem, comparative studies have been conducted in several countries, such as Japan, China and Germany.

"That's a proposed attachment I made myself during the meeting. I believe Sarimukti is an ideal location for processing waste into electrical energy. And today, we've all agreed that Danantara will manage it, and our future responsibilities will be in the city and district," KDM explained.

Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stated that this agreement is one way to disseminate decisions made by leaders at the central and provincial levels.

Hanif also expressed his appreciation to the West Java Provincial Government and all districts/cities for their very quick response in following up on President Prabowo Subianto's directive to implement PSEL.

"The President, through Presidential Regulation Number 109 of 2025, concerning the processing of waste into electrical energy, has outlined that cities or agglomerations of cities whose waste accumulation exceeds one thousand tons per day must be resolved through a waste-to-energy technology approach," said Hanif.

Hanif hopes that after this signing, regional heads will immediately complete the documents and then enter the next stage.

"This agreement will inspire everyone to believe that the President is truly taking the waste problem seriously," he concluded.
