PORTALJABAR, SUBANG REGENCY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi received an audience with representatives of Cikarang residents affected by the river widening project, in Lembur Pakuan, Subang Regency, Saturday (26/4/2025).

In the meeting, KDM - Dedi Mulyadi's nickname - listened directly to complaints and aspirations from around 30 heads of families who lost their homes due to project evictions.

Several residents asked for assistance with rent and social support in the form of clothing and food needs. In addition, a high school student expressed concern over the ban on study tours and school farewell events imposed by the West Java Provincial Government.

Responding to this, KDM emphasized that the policy of prohibiting study tour activities and school farewells was implemented to prevent illegal levies and commercialization of education that could burden parents of students.

He emphasized that farewell activities are permitted if they are organized independently by students without the involvement of the school.

"Criticism should be directed at the government if it does not pay attention to education, not at policies that would actually ease the burden on society," he said.

KDM also expressed his hope that the young generation of West Java would grow up in an atmosphere of educational concern, not a consumerist lifestyle that is not in accordance with social conditions.

In terms of rental assistance, the West Java Provincial Government through the Bank Bjb Peduli program provides assistance of IDR 10 million per family, enough to rent a house for at least one year.

However, this assistance is only given to residents who are affected and have lost their homes, not to those who build illegally on state land.

KDM also emphasized that the West Java Provincial Government continues to strive for a housing construction program for affected residents, in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP).

"I don't want to be a leader who is only popular, but must lead society to a better life," he said.
