PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia ceremony at the West Java Province level will be held in the courtyard of Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Monday (17/8/2026).
This was emphasized by the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, after attending a Plenary Session to Listen to the State Address of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in a series of events to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence in 2026 at the West Java DPRD Building, Friday (14/8/2026).
Previously, the West Java Independence Day ceremony was usually held at Gasibu Field. Therefore, this year's Independence Day ceremony was the first to be held in the courtyard of Gedung Sate.
"This is a first. Previously, the ceremony had been held at Gasibu Field. When the flag was raised, the camera captured the hotel building, not Gedung Sate. That won't happen again," he stressed.
After being renovated, Gedung Sate will be open to the public, so that the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony will be an opportunity for the people of West Java to see the results of the revitalization and renovation of Gedung Sate for the first time.
"We will hold an open ceremony in the courtyard of Gedung Sate. The public is welcome to attend and watch the ceremony," said KDM, the governor's nickname.
In addition to the new location, the ceremony will be attended only by TNI and Polri personnel, excluding civil servants and students. The Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) will participate in the troop deployment.
"The ceremony is attended by people who are accustomed to ceremonies. They possess strong physical endurance. They also have the ability to remain silent during the ceremony so that it can proceed in an orderly manner. Meanwhile, the public can sit back and relax to enjoy the flag ceremony," said KDM.
Setup Completed
KDM confirmed that Gedung Sate is ready for use as a ceremonial venue. Construction of the gate and archway is underway and is expected to be completed on Sunday (August 16, 2026).
According to KDM, the arrangement of the heritage buildings and icons of Bandung City was carried out carefully, including in terms of selecting the raw materials for wall paint.
"So now we use paint that meets standards in accordance with the provisions of the Cultural Heritage Preservation Center," he added.
This can now be seen from the color of Gedung Sate which is clean white and brighter than the previous color.
