PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Kebon Jayanti Village, located in Kiaracondong District, Bandung City, is increasingly known for its innovations in waste management and the potential for ceramic crafts.

This sub-district proves that creativity and environmental awareness can go hand in hand to create positive change.

With an area of 27 hectares and a dense population of 13,500 people, Kebon Jayanti is divided into 14 RWs and 89 RTs.

Kebon Jayanti Village Head Wiwin Haryani said that the majority of residents depend on trading or entrepreneurship for their living. Garbage has become a complicated problem in this area.

"However, thanks to the innovative program of the Waste Care Movement (Anxiety), this issue was successfully resolved," said Wiwin at the Kebon Jayanti Village Office, Bandung City, Monday (3/6/2024)

Wiwin explained that the Restless program emerged from residents' concerns regarding waste management.

"This program teaches residents to sort waste into organic and inorganic," he said.

Organic waste, especially kitchen waste, is collected by the Gisah team and processed through a maggotization program.

On the other hand, inorganic waste is collected by the Scrooge team through the Smart Scrooge Collection and converted into crafts or decorations that have economic value.

According to him, the program is in line with the direction of the city government through the "Kang Empos and Maggotization" program.

"Socialization regarding this program is carried out through road shows to each RW, ensuring that all residents are involved and understand the importance of good waste management," he said.

Wiwin also said that apart from innovation in waste management, Kebon Jayanti Village is also known for its ceramic craft potential.

"Kebon Jayanti ceramic crafts have been around since 1950 and are the only ceramic craftsmen who still survive in the city of Bandung," he said.

Kebon Jayanti ceramic craftsmen sell their work to a number of regions, maintaining this tradition from generation to generation.

"This ceramic craft is a source of pride for Kebon Jayanti residents and adds to the positive identity of this sub-district," he said.

Apart from innovation and economic potential, Kebon Jayanti also achieved various achievements, including being a Drug Clean Village, a Religious Moderation Village, and an Anti-Terrorist Prepared Village Village.

This achievement shows the sub-district's commitment to maintaining security and social harmony.

Through a combination of innovative waste management and a rich tradition of ceramic crafts, Kebon Jayanti Village continues to develop into an example of a village that has successfully managed local potential for the welfare of its residents.
