PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is strengthening area-based waste management through BRIN innovation tool assistance to sub-districts and urban villages on (24/7/2026).

The aid was handed over during the West Java Berseka Alert Roll Call and Joint Declaration of the Waste Sorting Action from Home at Sport Jabar Arcamanik.

The sub-districts receiving the waste processing equipment include Cisaranten Endah, Cisaranten Bina Harapan, Sukamiskin, and Cisaranten Kulon.

Apart from the sub-districts, assistance was also received by the Arcamanik, Rancasari, Coblong, Bandung Wetan, Cicendo, and Buahbatu Districts.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the technology helps reduce waste from its source in the community.

"Many waste management technologies have been discovered. Our challenge now is how to implement and optimize these technologies in the field to provide real benefits to the community," said Farhan.

Farhan hopes that the areas receiving aid will become examples for other sub-districts and villages in developing waste management innovations.

"Other districts must not be left behind. We want all regions to continue innovating so that achievements in waste management are more evenly distributed across Bandung City," he said.

He said waste management policies need to use research results to produce effective and sustainable solutions.

"Basically, all our policies and activities must be scientifically based, evidence-based," he said.

Farhan assessed that BRIN provides a scientific basis for regional governments in determining waste management policies.

"BRIN provides a very strong foundation that we can utilize together," he said.

The Bandung City Government is also strengthening cooperation with universities and the Citarum Harum Task Force to develop waste management innovations.

"We greatly appreciate the involvement of universities, and our collaboration with the Citarum Harum Task Force has provided tremendous benefits," Farhan said.

BRIN Head Arif Satria introduced the Lahsamor organic waste processing tool that helps households decompose waste simply.

"What we have in front of us is Lahsamor, a simple yet highly useful organic waste processing device. Simply place the organic waste into the device, rotate it a few times, and it will decompose naturally with the help of microorganisms," explained Arif.

BRIN has developed waste processing technology with a capacity ranging from five kilograms to 100 tons per day.

The technology includes processing waste into electricity, fuel, and decomposing organic waste.

Through the use of technology, the Bandung City Government hopes to make waste management more effective and reduce the burden on landfills.

Collaboration between the government, BRIN, universities, and the community is directed towards a circular economic system that benefits citizens.
