PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - As an effort to reduce waste, Garuda Village, Andir District, Bandung City, is intensifying socialization and education on waste management. This is done by involving all stakeholders in the area.

"We continue to carry out massive socialization, starting from LPM, RT, RT, Posyandu Cadres to KarangTaruna," said Garuda Village Head, Sandra Devi Abri Viana at the Ngariung Podcast activity with the Bandung City Communication and Information Service (10/22/2024).

"We continue to manage waste, last year the budget was allocated for all sub-districts to build maggot hangars and kang empos, thank God it continues to run in our country," he added.

He said that socialization continues to be carried out massively at the sub-district level, starting from RT to Karang Taruna.

Currently, the direction of the leader is still being pursued, namely "Not Sorted Not Transported". This is a follow-up to the village in an effort to handle waste sorting.

"Although changing habits is not easy, we need maximum effort. This continues to be done massively," he said.

One example, continued Sandra, the Garuda Subdistrict RT 05 RW 02 area has been able to sort waste independently for several months.

"In the area of RT 05 RW 02, they have been sorting household waste properly for several months. We hope that in this 1 RW, other RWs can do the same," he said.

Not only that, Garuda Sub-district also educates waste collectors to be able to sort waste just like the community who are already able to sort it in their respective homes.

Although it takes time, then through massive socialization and understanding, it is possible to provide education to officers to sort waste.

"Officers must also understand this, not just download it. So in the future, education will be provided to sort waste. So when there are houses that are not yet able to sort, they are able to provide education to the community," said Sandra. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
