PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Jalan Asia Afrika has become one of the Instagrammable locations in Bandung City. One of the locations that is a photo spot is the Asia Africa Crossing Bridge (JPO).
This bridge was built in 2015 ahead of the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference (KAA). This bridge was closed for technical reasons. Now the Asia Afrika JPO has finally reopened.
Jalan Asia Afrika JPO is a project built by the private sector which has become part of the assets of the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) since 2017. This JPO was reopened to coincide with the Braga Beken (Vehicle-Free Braga) event in early May 2024.
The pedestrian bridge was initiated by the Department of Transportation (Dishub) and is operated to make it easier for people to cross from the square to Braga or vice versa. Apart from making things easier for the public, the reopening of the JPO can help reduce traffic accidents and congestion.
Apart from that, the function of this JPO is not only for people to cross the road. From the top of this JPO, people can enjoy the beautiful views of the Asia-Africa road, especially in the morning or evening, especially after it rains.
After the top, right under the JPO there is the iconic writing of JPO Asia Africa and at that location people can take selfies, so they won't be disturbed by people crossing.
Asia Afrika JPO has operational hours which are usually open every day from 10.00 to 22.00 WIB. With the reopening of access, Bandung residents also gave a warm, positive response.
"In my opinion, for tourist attractions, JPOs are very helpful. Especially with the busy traffic conditions in Bandung. "So by reopening the JPO, it will make us more comfortable and safer when we cross," he said.
The people and tourists of Bandung City also hope that the iconic JPO on Jalan Asia Afrika can always maintain the quality of the building and its cleanliness.
