PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Transportation Department (Dishub) is preparing a number of supporting aspects to create a Braga Free Vehicle or Jalan Braga area that is free from vehicles.

Several efforts that have been prepared and are being studied include providing several parking spots in the Jalan Braga area, as well as preparing three Bandung Tour on The Bus (Bandros) routes to transport tourists from hotels around Bandung City.

Daily Acting Head of the Bandung City Transportation Agency, Asep Koswara, said that the trial of the Bandros route for tourists was carried out in order to measure the duration and see the availability of the Bandros fleet in Bandung City. Meanwhile, said Asep, the three routes that Bandros will take include:

1. Dago Route - Jalan Braga, crossing along Jalan Ir. H. Djuanda headed to the Kedathon Hotel.
2. Pasteur Route - Jalan Braga, cross Jalan Pasteur, then turn onto Jalan Cihampelas, Jalan Wastukancana, and ends in the Braga area.
3. TSM Route - Jalan Braga, crossing Jalan Gatot Subroto, heading to Jalan Asia Afrika, and ending in the Braga area.

"We need to know which hotels we can pick up visitors from (to travel to Jalan Braga). Currently we are preparing two bandros for the three routes. Two for each, so there are a total of six Bandros," said Asep at Bandung City Hall, Sunday April 28, 2024.

The Bandung City Transportation Agency will also coordinate with related parties. One of them is the Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), to be able to ensure technical matters related to the operation of Bandros as transportation to Jalan Braga when Braga Free Vehicle is implemented.

"We also need to coordinate with several parties such as the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI). To be clearer, we will start operating hours. After we carry out the simulation, we will immediately provide further information," he explained.

On the other hand, the Bandung City Transportation Agency has also prepared parking facilities that can be used by tourists in the Jalan Braga area. Asep said that there will be off street and on street parking areas.

In more detail, the off street parking areas include the Bandung City Hall area, Dewi Sartika Park, West Java Water Resources Service, West Java Province Highways and Spatial Planning Service, BJB Bank, Bandung Bank, and the Banceuy Road Post Office.

Meanwhile, on-street parking is provided, including in the Viaduct area, Jalan Cikapundung, and Jalan Braga Short.

Asep said that the implementation of Braga Free Vehicle will start on May 4-5 2024. Technically, the Jalan Braga area will be free of vehicles from Saturday at 16.00 WIB until Sunday evening at 23.59 WIB.

"We have coordinated with the TNI, Polri and Regional Government regarding road closures for vehicles that are not hotel guests in the area. "Apart from the Bandros route, we have also prepared several parking pockets," said Asep. (Diskominfo Bandung City/Fauziah)
