PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Cases of food poisoning from the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program are quite high in West Java, compared to other provinces in Indonesia.
In response to this problem, the West Java DPRD requested that supervision of the MBG program in West Java be tightened.
Member of Commission V of the West Java Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), Aceng Malki, said that based on the results of field visits, it showed that supervision of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) was still weak and the management staff lacked professionalism.
"Many SPPGs do not coordinate with the local health centers or government," said Aceng, Wednesday (22/10/2025).
According to him, many SPPGs are unknown to local officials in their areas. Furthermore, many kitchen workers lack the skills to cook on a large scale, which impacts food quality.
"This must be evaluated from a supervisory perspective," Aceng stressed.
"Many violations of the policy regarding providing nutritious menus were also found, such as the lack of milk and fruit in a number of recipient schools," he added.
Aceng also highlighted the existence of MBG kitchens that lack a Hygiene Sanitation Certification (SLHS). Of the 2,131 MBG kitchens, only 17 have a SLHS.
"This condition shows the weakness of the kitchen selection system, which is still dominated by connection factors," Aceng concluded.
