PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Laughter, the sound of strings, and the glitter of Indonesian textiles blended together at the Bandung Mayor's Hall (26/4/2025).

The Sora Wanodja Bandung women's community and Petik Cantik Nusantara (PCN) from Yogyakarta present an event entitled Sora Wanodja Nusantara, an arts celebration that embraces music, culture, and women's solidarity.

This event is a meeting place for women from across regions who voice their love for weaving, string music such as the ukulele and violin, and the richness of the country's textiles.

Around 150 guests from various social communities, cultural preservers, and ethnic fashion lovers attended in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere.

Head of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (TPP PKK) of Bandung City, Aryatri Benarto Farhan, appeared playing the ukulele with the Sora Wanodja community.

Aryatri Benarto Farhan recalls her initial introduction to this community, she met him while accompanying her husband on a campaign in Bandung.

"Initially, I was invited to practice ukulele while wearing a kebaya every Wednesday, from there I met mothers who had a great passion for culture and art, I felt very accepted and grew with them," she said.

Sora Wanodja is a women's group that uses string music and singing as a medium to preserve culture, appearing wearing Nusantara textiles as a form of love for local wealth, especially traditional West Javanese weaving and fabrics.

Petik Cantik Nusantara (PCN) Yogyakarta carries a similar spirit, growing from the Indonesian Women in Kebaya movement and now actively promoting culture through traditional musical instruments and kebaya clothing.

Sora Wanodja Nusantara is designed to be an annual event, expanding its impact in preserving culture as well as empowering women through art.

"Never be separated, ladies, we will continue to persevere, be solid, and be loyal to our initial spirit in starting Sora Wanodja," said Aryatri Benarto Farhan.

Still in the Kartini Day atmosphere, he also gave a message to the attendees.

"Don't stop learning, creating, and being an inspiration to fellow women," she said.

In addition to the musical collaboration, the event featured a “A Glance at West Javanese Weaving” segment as well as a fashion show by Tenun Rio and Tenun Evi.

The chief executive, Novianty Kasoem, said that this event was a step to build synergy between the local government, textile woven industry players, MSMEs, designers, and sponsors in supporting the promotion of superior regional products, especially from West Java.

"Our goal is not just to appear, but to build a strong network to promote West Java's superior products through a cultural approach," said Novianty Kasoem.

This activity was also attended by the Head of Division 1 of the Bandung City PKK Team, Fitriana Dewi Erwin and the Head of the Bandung City Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), Dewi Pertiwi Zulkarnain. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fau)
