PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The series of Tatar Sundanese Festivals, held since May 3, 2026, in Sumedang Regency, will conclude in Bandung City on May 16, 2026. The event, held tonight, will feature a cultural parade that will begin at Kiara Artha Park, then proceed to Jalan Jakarta, Jalan Supratman, and end at Jalan Diponegoro (Gedung Sate).
Dedi Supandi, Head of the West Java Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD), and Chair of the Milangkala Tatar Sunda Committee, stated that the procession will run from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. WIB. Artists from 27 regencies and cities in West Java will showcase a variety of arts, guaranteed to be captivating.
"Not only that, several representatives from outside West Java will also attend, such as from Aceh, DKI Jakarta, Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Ponorogo, to Tegal and Brebes," he explained, Saturday (16/5/2026).
In addition to the arts, the Binokasih Crown of Sanghyang Pake was also paraded during the procession. Dedi confirmed that the Binokasih Crown paraded during the procession was the original, not a replica.
"It's authentic, not a replica. Although there are replicas in Sumedang, this one is 100 percent authentic. And this is what we really want to convey: Sundanese, or West Java, have a rich culture since ancient times," he said.
To ensure the smooth running of the event, the committee has provided medical services at every point along the parade route. However, the public should also ensure they are in good health while watching the parade.
The highlight of the Milangkala Tatar Sunda event continued on Sunday (17/5/2026) evening with a Peuting Munggaran Milangkala Tatar Sunda stage performance in the West Parking Lot of Gedung Sate.
The public can watch arts events at the cultural parade and on stage for free, without any charge.
Dedi said that next year's Milangkala Tatar Sunda event would be held in areas that had not been visited this year.
