PORTALJABAR, BOGOR CITY - Thousands of residents filled the 3.2 kilometer parade route from the Bumi Ageung Batutulis area to Jalan Surya Kencana in the Milangkala Tatar Sunda Cultural Parade, Friday (8/5/2026).

This activity showcases various Sundanese arts and culture, ranging from traditional clothing, drumming, angklung music, to traditional performances which were enthusiastically welcomed by the community.

Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim said the Milangkala Tatar Sunda Cultural Parade was not just a cultural celebration, but also a momentum to strengthen the preservation of cultural values and respect for ancestral heritage.

"This activity serves as a reminder of the importance of appreciating the heritage of our ancestors that has shaped our cultural identity today," he said after the activity at the Dhanagun Temple area, Jalan Surya Kencana.

Dedie said that the city of Bogor has strong historical ties with Pakuan Pajajaran and Sri Baduga Maharaja.

According to him, this history is an important foundation for society to preserve culture and pass on noble values to future generations.

He also reminded the Sundanese philosophy that is the value of Bogor City, namely Di Nu Kiwari Ngancik Nu Bihari, Seja Ayeuna Sampeureun Jaga.

This philosophy means that what is enjoyed today is the result of the struggle and goodness of our predecessors, so that the current generation has the responsibility to instill goodness for the future.

"This value teaches us that we must preserve our cultural heritage while providing benefits for future generations," he said.

The Milangkala Tatar Sunda Cultural Parade is expected to continue to serve as a platform for cultural education while strengthening community unity in preserving Sundanese identity and cultural richness. (Bogor City Communications and Information Office/rka)
