JAKARTA – In an event entitled “Development Collaboration in West Java Towards Golden Indonesia 2045” held at Hutan Kota by Plataran, Jakarta, Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, delivered various important notes regarding the challenges and potential of development in West Java.
The event was attended by a number of important figures, including members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the West Java electoral district (Dapil), community leaders, and the elected Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi.
This momentum is an opportunity to foster friendship and strengthen synergy between various parties to accelerate the development of West Java towards the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
In his remarks, Bey Machmudin explained his main duties as Acting Governor, namely ensuring the smooth running of government while maintaining stability ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Elections. He emphasized his commitment to maintaining the neutrality of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) and ensuring that the Elections are safe, peaceful, and fair.
"When I first took office, my focus was on preparing for the Simultaneous Elections. However, communication with various parties was a priority, including with the Indonesian House of Representatives from the West Java Electoral District, so that development in West Java could be accelerated," he said.
Strategic Issues: Kertajati Airport and Waste Management
Bey highlighted several strategic issues that are of concern to the West Java Provincial Government, one of which is Kertajati International Airport. According to him, the airport which has great potential still faces various obstacles, especially the lack of domestic flight routes.
"Kertajati is currently still a challenge for the provincial government because the capital investment from the APBD is mostly absorbed for operations, not development. Although there are already international routes such as Scoot Airlines from Singapore and hajj flights, the number of passengers is not yet significant," said Bey.
However, he is optimistic about Kertajati's development as a cargo hub, with the first shipment planned from Australia on January 28. He emphasized the need for cross-sector support to ensure the airport's operational sustainability.
In addition, waste management in the Greater Bandung area is also a concern. Bey said the Legok Nangka project is one of the long-term solutions. This project is designed to be the first Waste Power Plant (PLTSA) in Southeast Asia with a large capacity. However, the project is still constrained by the electricity purchase agreement with PLN.
"We are still waiting for the green light from the Prosecutor's Office to finalize this deal," Bey added.
Support and Hope for the Elected Governor
Closing his remarks, Bey expressed his appreciation to Dedi Mulyadi as the elected Governor of West Java. He believes that Dedi's experience and track record in government will be a great asset to bring West Java forward.
"I can't leave many messages, because I'm sure he already understands very well, including in managing the APBD. However, I hope he can continue to innovate for the welfare of the people of West Java," said Bey.
This event also became a forum for friendship that brought together the ranks of the West Java Provincial Government with members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the West Java Electoral District. The discussion that took place aimed to strengthen collaboration to encourage the acceleration of development in various sectors, as part of the grand vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.
With solid collaboration, West Java is expected to become a driving force for competitive and sustainable national development.
