PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) will make the Tirta Lega swimming pool one of the main study tour destinations for elementary school (SD) and junior high school (SMP) students.

In the future, the Bandung City Government will provide subsidies as part of an effort to expand students' learning experiences outside the classroom.

The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, said that the legendary swimming pool, which was built in 1978, will soon be revitalized because its current condition is no longer suitable.

"Currently, the Tirta Lega pool is not being taken care of at all by us, and that is our collective sin. The pool is leaking, the water is clear but the bottom of the pool is still green because of moss," said Farhan at Bandung City Hall, Monday, (14/4/2025).

Farhan targets the revitalization to be completed in June-July 2025 so that Tirta Lega can be used as a location for educational visits by students.

He said that apart from Tirta Lega, there will be four other study tour points that are also being prepared.

"We want school children to have direct experience in the field. One of my targets is for Tirta Lega to be a place to learn and a safe and healthy place to play for students," he said.

This study tour program will receive a subsidy from the Bandung City Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD), and is expected to reduce the financial burden on parents.

Farhan mentioned the importance of providing fair access to outdoor learning activities, including for students from underprivileged families. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fau)
