PORTALJABAR, BOGOR CITY - Bogor Mayor's wife Yantie Rachim emphasized that the Bogor City Government (Pemkot) continues to be committed to making Bogor a city that is friendly to Children with Special Needs (ABK).
He expressed this when he attended the peak of the Autism Awareness Month commemoration, which was held by the Special Needs Children Care Community (Kompakk) at Bogor City Hall, Saturday (19/4/2025).
On that occasion, Yantie Rachim also saw off four Uncal buses that were carrying children with special needs around the city of Bogor.
"This activity is not just symbolic, but a real manifestation that children with special needs must be given space, time, and equal opportunities to enjoy life in this city. The Bogor City Government continues to be committed to making Bogor a city that is friendly to children with special needs," he said.
Head of Kompakk Bogor City, Naziah, said that this activity was the peak event of the commemoration of World Autism Awareness Day which falls every April 2.
For a whole month, Kompakk held various activities, including the action of turning Bogor City blue by lighting blue lights at various icons of Bogor City, such as Alun-Alun, City Hall, Tugu Kujang, and Sempur Park as a symbol of concern for autism.
"At the peak of the Autism Awareness Day event, we invited around 40 children with special needs and 40 companions to tour the city of Bogor using four Uncal buses," he said.
On that occasion, Naziah also appreciated the support of the Bogor City Government which has continued to be given to Kompakk and children with special needs since 2016.
According to him, Bogor City is in the process of realizing a ABK-friendly city. Although there are still some public facilities that need adjustment, he still believes that everything requires a process.
"Alhamdulillah, the administration of making ID cards for children with special needs has been greatly simplified. We hope that the Bogor City Government can open wider opportunities, including in the world of work. Children with special needs also have potential, it's just that they need a certain approach and habits in the process," he said.
Naziah added, on May 31, there will be free consultations at Mal Botani Square as well as an art performance for ABK children. (Diskominfo Kota Bogor/UPI)
