PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan opened the 2025 PSSI Bandung City U-15 Competition, the Persib Cup, at the Persib Field, Jalan Ahmad Yani, Saturday (19/4/2025).

Farhan said that the tiered age group competition also produces professional athletes.

"We are opening a tiered age group competition, starting from ages 13, 15 and 18 from the main division, 1 and 2," said Farhan.

He said that the tiered age groups were a 'habit' that was applied to the participants so that in competing there were always levels.

This is proof that PSSI Bandung City is selective in running programs and searching for talent.

"This tiered age group will accustom our children to understand that in the competition there are levels that must be followed one by one," he explained.

He believes that coaching young businesses is important. Because when Persib in 1982-1995 produced many talented players. Farhan emphasized that because of the extraordinary coaching.

"I believe that youth development is important. We know that Persib became legendary in 1982-1995, because of the extraordinary training and development," he said.

As a result, Farhan continued, Persib has now succeeded in creating training that produces the best players.

"Now Persib is better because 11 years ago Persib succeeded in creating Persib training which produced the best players," he said.

For this reason, Farhan supports the activity as a forum to give birth to talent and also to find talented players.

"We are looking for the best players not only from Bandung City but all 27 cities and districts in West Java," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of KONI Bandung City, Nuryadi stated that football playing skills must be honed from an early age.

"I think that the coaching in Bandung City for all sports branches is systematic, tiered and continuous for the ages of 13, 15 and 18 juniors," he said.

"My hope is to be able to produce athletes who are selected and trained as cadres of Persib as a whole," he said.

The competition followed by 36 Football Associations (PS) was able to achieve both local and international achievements. (Diskominfo Kota Bandung/rka)
