PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The 7th Branch Conference (Konfercab) of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) in Bekasi Regency is an important momentum in strengthening the role of students as agents of change who make a real contribution to regional development.

Carrying the theme "Reactualization of the PMII Movement: From Discourse Space to Real Action for Bekasi" it was held at the KH Noer Alie Hall, Bekasi Regency Government Complex, Central Cikarang, Sunday (7/6/2026).

The holding of the 7th PMII Bekasi Regency Conference as a strategic forum to conduct organizational evaluation, cadre consolidation, and at the same time formulate the direction of PMII's future movements in responding to various challenges of the times.

Representing the Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, the Acting Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency (Bakesbangpol) of Bekasi Regency, Asep Buchori, said that the theme raised was very relevant to the current needs of society.

"The younger generation is not only required to think critically and engage in discussions, but must also be able to provide solutions and make real contributions to regional development," he said.

According to him, PMII as a cadre organization that has produced many national figures and regional leaders has an important role in strengthening national values, maintaining democratic life, and being a strategic partner of the government in building an advanced, inclusive, and sustainable society.

He emphasized that the Bekasi Regency Government believes that students are agents of change, possessing the energy, idealism, and intellectual capacity to drive regional progress. Therefore, the government is opening up the widest possible space for collaboration for youth and student organizations to actively participate in development.

"Currently, Bekasi Regency continues to strive to improve the quality of human resources, strengthen economic competitiveness, expand job opportunities, and encourage innovation in various sectors. In this process, we need fresh ideas, constructive thinking, and the active participation of the younger generation, including PMII cadres," he said.

He also advised all conference participants to use the forum as a means of democratic deliberation by upholding the values of brotherhood and prioritizing the interests of the organization and the welfare of society above personal or group interests.

"Hopefully, the 7th PMII Bekasi Regency Conference will produce quality leadership, work programs that are responsive to community needs, and strategic recommendations that can serve as input for regional development," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Bekasi Regency DPRD, Ade Sukron, said that students must maintain their role as an intellectual group present to guard universal values, social justice, and national integrity.

According to him, amidst the current development dynamics, students should not only play a role as critics, but should also actively provide constructive input, ideas, and solutions that can support the progress of Bekasi Regency.

"Discourse must remain vibrant. What distinguishes students from other groups is that every action they undertake is grounded in solid research and argumentation. Their actions must be meaningful and provide tangible benefits to society," he said.

Ade Sukron also encouraged PMII cadres to continue building communication and collaboration with various stakeholders, including local governments and the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), in order to oversee development and fight for the interests of the community.

He hopes that the 7th PMII Bekasi Regency Conference will not only result in changes in organizational leadership, but also produce strategic programs that are able to answer the challenges of the times and provide real contributions to the region.

"Organizational dynamics are normal. However, the most important thing is to maintain the organization's dignity and ensure the conference produces strong leadership and programs that benefit the community," he emphasized.

The 7th PMII Bekasi Regency Conference was attended by PMII cadres and administrators from various commissariats and sub-districts throughout Bekasi Regency. The forum served as the organization's highest-level agenda at the branch level, electing new leadership and formulating the direction of PMII's movement in supporting Bekasi Regency's development.
