PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin, emphasized that cooperatives are a social movement that brings to life the value of togetherness.

He made this statement at the commemoration of the 78th National Cooperative Day (Harkopnas) at the Bandung City level at the Balai Sartika Convention Hall, Tuesday (7/10/2025).

This year's commemoration carries the theme "Advanced Cooperatives, Just and Prosperous Indonesia." This commemoration serves as a crucial opportunity to strengthen the role of cooperatives as a pillar of the nation's economy.

"Amidst the onslaught of the digital economy, cooperatives must be able to transform to not only survive but also become key players in the local and international economic ecosystem," said Erwin.

Erwin ensured that the Bandung City Government remains committed to being present as a cooperative partner, as well as a facilitator and accelerator in realizing Bandung Utama, a vision of a competitive, independent, and sustainable city.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Cooperatives, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Service, Budi Rukmana, said that cooperatives are a real indicator of the achievement of developing the people's economy.

Currently, Bandung City has 862 active cooperatives with a total membership of 19,262 people.

"In addition, 151 Red and White Cooperatives have been established, which are driving the people's economy," he said.

The Bandung City level Harkopnas commemoration was combined with the signing of a cooperation agreement between savings and loan cooperatives and the red and white cooperatives, an MSME and fostered product bazaar, and the awarding of awards to outstanding cooperatives in 2025.

The Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD, Asep Mulyadi, reminded the importance of policies that support the strengthening of cooperatives and MSMEs.

"Cooperatives must not merely survive, but adapt to the digital era and the creative economy. The 78-year history of cooperatives should be a turning point in increasing cooperative literacy and digitalization," he said.
