PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) reaffirmed its commitment to implementing adaptive, innovative, and people-oriented regional autonomy.

This was conveyed by the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, at the commemoration ceremony of the 29th Regional Autonomy Day (Otoda) at the Bandung City level at the City Hall Plaza, Friday (25/4/2025).

In his message, Farhan said that the commemoration of regional autonomy is not just an annual ceremony, but a strategic momentum to reflect on the extent to which regional autonomy has brought real benefits to the community.

"This momentum is a reflection to measure the quality of public services, community participation, and development progress that has been produced. Collaboration between elements of society has become an important foundation in strengthening governance," he said.

The theme of this year's Regional Autonomy Day, "Central and Regional Synergy in Building the Archipelago Towards Golden Indonesia 2045", is a reminder of the importance of intergovernmental cooperation in welcoming a century of Indonesian independence.

Farhan stated that the Bandung City Government fully supports the direction of national policy and continues to strive to align the development vision with the central government.

"Development cannot be done separately. We must move in one rhythm, unite our steps, and strengthen coordination towards Golden Indonesia," he said.

Farhan explained a number of strategic initiatives carried out by the Bandung City Government as a real manifestation of regional autonomy, including:

- Strengthening Public Services through digitalization, such as the Lapor application, online population services, and regional health information systems.
- Policy innovation in waste management, dense area planning, and public space revitalization.
- Provision of Free Nutritious Meals for school children as a form of support for the growth and development of the younger generation.
- Empowering the Local Economy through strengthening MSMEs, tax incentives, and expanding cooperation with the private sector and academics.

"All of these programs are a form of active contribution from the Bandung City Government in supporting the national strategic agenda, including food self-sufficiency, energy, water resource management, and improving the quality of education and health," he said.

In facing increasingly complex global challenges, Farhan emphasized that the bureaucracy must be agile, have integrity, and be responsive to the needs of the community.

He also said that bureaucratic reform and digital transformation are the main priorities in the Bandung City Government.

"Regional autonomy is not the end goal, but a tool to achieve effective and efficient governance. We must strengthen our commitment to improving institutional capacity, human resources, and regional finances," he said.

He also called for a spirit of mutual cooperation, innovation, and open and serving government.

"The responsibility of building the nation is not only on the shoulders of the central government, but is the collective responsibility of all of us in the regions. Let's fill regional autonomy with real work and a sincere commitment to be present for the community," he said.
