PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has taken a big step towards the Main predicate in the 2025 Child-Friendly City (KLA) evaluation. Every child in Bandung City is guaranteed to be able to grow in a safe, healthy, inclusive, and happy environment.
This commitment was clearly seen in the implementation of field verification by the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) which was held in a hybrid manner at Bandung City Hall, Tuesday (22/4/2025).
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan conveyed the Bandung City Government's strong commitment to development that is oriented towards fulfilling children's rights and protecting them.
"I would like to convey that the Bandung City Government is fully committed and makes the Child-Friendly City program an integral part of the direction of inclusive, child-friendly, and sustainable development," said Farhan.
He stated that children are not only the beneficiaries of development, but also the main subjects who must be involved and protected in the entire public policy process.
This commitment, he continued, has been realized concretely through strengthening regulations, strengthening institutions and HR capacity in all KLA clusters.
In addition, the Bandung City Government's commitment is manifested in the form of service innovation and multi-party collaboration.
Farhan also emphasized the importance of the role of children in city development, considering that the number of children in Bandung reaches 28.33 percent of the total population or around 710,113 people.
"This figure confirms that children are a strategic group that requires special attention in the planning and implementation of city development," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Family Planning Service (DP3AKB) of West Java Province, Siska Gervianti, said that the City of Bandung managed to obtain an administrative verification score of 841.32, a significant increase from the previous ranking, which was Madya.
"We appreciate the hard work of the Bandung City Government. From the verification results, we consider Bandung City worthy of a recommendation to move up to the Main ranking. Especially because of the institutional strengthening and achievements in various clusters that are very prominent," he said.
Siska explained that there were 20 institutional aspects that were highlighted positively, forming a strong basis for the recommendation for a Main rating.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Coordination of Improving the Quality of Children, Women and Youth of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture Woro Srihastuti reminded of the importance of a child protection system based on seven main domains, including policy frameworks, cross-sector coordination, and community involvement.
"KLA is not enough to be seen from the fulfillment of indicators, but it must be ensured that the child protection system is running. This will be the key to achieving the national target towards Child-Friendly Indonesia 2030," he said.
