Bandung City Breaks the Record for the Longest Non-Stop Angklung Game in Indonesia

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung City broke the record for playing angklung for the longest time, namely for 12 hours. The award was given by Original Rekor Indonesia (ORI) (8/6/2024) evening at the peak of the 12 Hour Bandung Ngurulung Angklung event.

Assistant for Economy and Development of the Bandung City Regional Secretariat, Eric M. Attauriq, congratulated and was proud of the implementation of the 12 Hours of Bandung Ngurulung Angklung.

This activity featured approximately 56 angklung groups from each studio, community and school representative.

"We always fully support various activities that can preserve and expand cultural awareness, especially for the development of angklung in the eyes of the community," said Eric.

Furthermore, he invited all participants and the community to continue to preserve angklung culture, both through artistic activities and other activities that are packaged with aspects of innovation and creativity. This is so that the existence of angklung can be maintained and continue to develop in all times.

"We encourage the active involvement of government aspects with the entire community as an effort to realize collaboration and synergy in making the city of Bandung a sustainable development," said Eric.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Service, Arif Syaifudin, said that a number of efforts would be made by the Bandung City Government to preserve angklung, including by preparing a Circular so that angklung could be introduced in cafes or restaurants in Bandung City.

"We have broken the record. As a conservation effort, we are currently drafting a Circular so that angklung can be introduced in cafes or restaurants in Bandung City," said Arif.

On this occasion, the reading of the record decree and presentation of awards was given by the Original President of Indonesian Records, Guruh Susanto. He also congratulated the city of Bandung on its achievements.

"We have declared the record breaking for the longest angklung playing for 12 hours non-stop in the context of Bandung City Angklung 2024 a success," said Guruh.

The 12 Hour Bandung Ngurulung Angklung activity takes place from 06.30 WIB to 20.30 WIB. Thousands of visitors took turns enjoying angklung performances from 56 artists. Apart from that, there are also various MSME stalls selling throughout the event. (Diskominfo Bandung City/Fauziah)
